How to use this calculator
- Step 1
Pick your hourly rate
Each rate from $14 to $100 an hour has its own page answering how much it is a year, a month, every two weeks and a week, before and after tax.
- Step 2
Multiply by 2,080 for the annual figure
Forty hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 paid hours, which includes paid holidays and vacation. That is the multiplier payroll uses, so $25 an hour is $52,000 a year. Where 2,080 comes from.
- Step 3
Use 2,000 hours if your time off is unpaid
Fifty paid weeks rather than 52 is the right basis for most contract and agency work, and it lowers the annual equivalent by about 4%.
- Step 4
Go the other way if you have a salary
The salary to hourly index does the reverse conversion at every common annual figure.
